Take that stage!
Telling a story
For years I’ve worked as an actress and communications advisor. Very different fields but they have one thing in common: they both tell stories and aim to get a message across. One way to do so is by getting on a stage in front of an audience. Something that can feel a bit scary and tricky to do.
Public speaking and acting
After years of public speaking as a communications advisor, I would still get nervous when doing a presentation, and I felt I should be able to perform better than I did.
Then something hit me: I realised that I didn’t feel those nerves when I got on stage to act. In fact, I felt strong and in charge. As an actress I was really secure about my performance.
Using acting insights without having to act
As the two areas seemed so connected, I decided to see what I could learn from my stage presence as an actress, and take this on board when preparing for a more regular presentation. And, Hallelujah, that worked! I found a way to build my presentation with the communication blocks that are the base of every solid presentation and then shape that into a lively, interesting presentation where I felt comfortable on stage and that showed my personality with the help of all my acting tools.
Take the Stage
Having benefited from this for quite some time, I decided to put my knowledge to good use in a training that I called ‘Take the Stage’. A training that can help anyone who has to get up and speak in front of an audience, big or small, make a powerful and lasting impression. So, take that stage!
